Military Engagements

May is a notoriously busy month for military engagements with the Nightstalker WONSA, a homecoming week of sorts.  It was one thing right after another, which lead right into Nick's final flight and his change of command ceremony.  It was an incredibly bittersweet time, far more bitter than sweet.

Our last military ball.
Nick had a double-header last flight on my birthday.  The kids and I went to watch him land his afternoon flight decked out in all of our "Daddy flair."

Here he comes!

He treated us to my birthday dinner in-between flights. :)

We were SO BLESSED to have Grammy, Poppy and Uncle Ben there to support Nick at his ceremony.

One of my favorite moments of the ceremony, was when James was given his "token of appreciation."  The moment he laid eyes on his Elmo stuffed animal, he broke the serious mood by emphatically yelling "Elmo! Elmo! Elmo!"
Hannah stirred the pot and stole James' newly minted lovey just moment later.  Thankfully, Grammy and Poppy jumped into action to remove our smug 3 year old and devastated 1 year old before it got really ugly.
