Molly & Darla's 5th Birthday!

On Nick's 27th birthday, I laid eyes on two eight week old puffs of poodle fur at a shelter in Joy, Illinois.  They were born to a breeder but given to the shelter because of their bad knee caps and Darla's umbilical hernia  I had really only set out to adopt one dog, but upon meeting the black and white sisters, I knew there was no way I could separate them.  With Nick's permission and a racing heart, I collected them in my arms and brought them home.

Of course, Nick was hoping (and still does) for some large man-dog, but he welcomed our girls home with open arms.  He is a great lover of all animals.  Raising two toy poodles has been a much larger challenge than we imagined, but they offer so much love, loyalty and warm cuddles and bring so much joy to us all.  We love them dearly and can't believe they are 5 years old!

Mom and Kris made the drive with me to pick up our girls!

Time to sing!  Emmy's favorite part!

Actually, no.  Blowing out the candles is Emmy's favorite part.

Happy Birthday Girls!
