The Cabin

We had two opportunities to visit the cabin this summer.  The first, Molly and I went to visit Mom and Dad while Nick and the kids spent time with his family in the Redwoods.  We had wine at Saluti and walked around Placerville and had time and space to chat and enjoy the peaceful beauty.  Then, a couple of weeks later, we went up as a family with Mom, Dad and Jamie.  We went to a gold mine in Placerville, explored a hidden water hole and played in our fort.  It was precious time together in such a special place.  In the end of August, we lost the cabin in the Cal Dor fire that burned 221,835 acres in the El Dorado Mountain Range and other parts of Sierra Nevada.  By the grace of God, Jamie and Dakota were not there when the fire started and all of Mom and Dad's neighbors were able to get to safety.  It was a tremendous loss and we cherish these photos and the memories made in them.  We've already seen signs of God's redeeming love, even in the ashes.  Mom and Dad literally found some treasures once they were able to return to the property.  Jamie realized his great love for Grizzly Flats and bought his own home there.

Molly's scavenging again.

Uncle Jamie had cut this wood to customize the inside of his van-and we made it into a make-believe canoe!

We went to a gold mine in Placerville!

A solo trip to the cabin with Mom and Dad.  Grateful for our time together!

Strawberry picking at Uncle Jamie's friend, Ben's farm!

All In Baptism

My greatest prayer answered!  The kids were eavesdropping on a conversation that I was having with Kris about the upcoming baptism at church when they emphatically asked if they could participate.  It all came about very quickly and the following Sunday, they publicly professed their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior!  Our family was all there to witness and we continued the celebration with Sparking Cider and donuts at the Danville Library lawn afterwards!

The kids brought Henry and Holly back in honor of the day!

Meeting with Pastor Tyler before the service!

James shared his verse 2 Peter 1:3
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.

James volunteered to be baptized first.
Julia's verse was: 1 Corinthians 14:3-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails.

Hannah shares her verse, Psalm 23

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

Emmy shared her verse Jeremiah 29:11-14
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,
”

It was also Poppy's Birthday!!
