The Cabin

We had two opportunities to visit the cabin this summer.  The first, Molly and I went to visit Mom and Dad while Nick and the kids spent time with his family in the Redwoods.  We had wine at Saluti and walked around Placerville and had time and space to chat and enjoy the peaceful beauty.  Then, a couple of weeks later, we went up as a family with Mom, Dad and Jamie.  We went to a gold mine in Placerville, explored a hidden water hole and played in our fort.  It was precious time together in such a special place.  In the end of August, we lost the cabin in the Cal Dor fire that burned 221,835 acres in the El Dorado Mountain Range and other parts of Sierra Nevada.  By the grace of God, Jamie and Dakota were not there when the fire started and all of Mom and Dad's neighbors were able to get to safety.  It was a tremendous loss and we cherish these photos and the memories made in them.  We've already seen signs of God's redeeming love, even in the ashes.  Mom and Dad literally found some treasures once they were able to return to the property.  Jamie realized his great love for Grizzly Flats and bought his own home there.

Molly's scavenging again.

Uncle Jamie had cut this wood to customize the inside of his van-and we made it into a make-believe canoe!

We went to a gold mine in Placerville!

A solo trip to the cabin with Mom and Dad.  Grateful for our time together!
