Payback

I got lucky that no one called Child Protective Services on me for child neglect on any one of the days I was at the old house working to finish up the move.  I'm not sure what that says about our neighbors.  I did have the garage door open and the air conditioner running in the car; and the girls both had water and a movie to watch from their car seats.  Apparently that wasn't good enough.  Emmy figured out how to roll the window down with her big toe and scream, "MAMA!!" over and over again until I came running.  After rescuing her sippy, replenishing her snack or restarting her show,  I would return to my work shoveling leftover crap into every spare niche in the car, and literally running through the house with the Swiffer, until I was "summoned" again a few minutes later.  This continued until my car was stuffed to the hilt, about 45 minutes later (which was all the time I could afford before someone needed a nap or a meal.)

To add insult to injury, Emmy would remind me as we were driving away that, "I call for you, Mama, and you didn't come.  That makes Emmy sad."  The CPS deposition would be complete, and my fate sealed in the court of law with a statement like that.

So, in an attempt to clear my name, for a crime I got absolutely no enjoyment out of committing, this past week has been payback.  We've been loving on each other big time and keeping our errands to the bare necessities...

I did force her into one last appointment, though.  After all that work, we just needed to CLOSE on the house! :) :)

Emmy's been fixated on weddings lately.  She requested that we put on our wedding dresses.  So we did.  Then she wanted to twirl.  So we did.

Practicing our curtsey.

Emmy has an especially deep curtsey.

Sissy's practicing sitting up like a big girl!  Her smile has been changing since her bottom two teeth arrived.  It's similar to that of a kid who has new braces on their teeth.  It's pretty funny.  I keep trying to get it on film, but haven't been quick enough on the draw.

Emmy drew a purple octopus!  It's her go-to.

She stole my phone and called "Icky."  I let them talk for several minutes after I overheard her complaining to Kris that I was trying to take the phone from her.
