She will be called....

HANNAH MADELINE HORN
24 weeks and 4 days!
Hannah's mommy & big sis :)

We finally settled on a name for our precious baby girl!  What a tremendous responsibility it is to determine the name another person will answer to for the rest of their life! (Unless it is detested so much that they choose to go through the legal rigamaroll of changing it, but, in that case, I would say that gives you, the parents, a big "F" for your efforts.)  The weight of the decision was only compounded by Nick and my very different tastes in names.  (My favorites fall under "feminine classics" and Nick turned to googling "bad ass female characters" for inspiration.  Very little overlap between the two.)  "Hannah" was our second choice for Emmy's name, my only hesitation was the numerous "H's" between her first and last names, but, as Kris assured me, she wont be a Horn forever (although she will be if Nick has any say.)  So that "con" soon vanished.  We chose "Madeline" after the precocious main female character in the timeless children's series.  Nick gets his strong female character and I got a sweet girly name.  Everybody wins! :)

  1. BEAUTIFUL NAME and PERFECT belly bump!!!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing! I for one LOVE the double-letter names! (everyone you meet with double letter names are just nice good people!) SO FUN!!!! Happy monogramming!

Regarding your skype post; I LOVE the picture and I love that you have that tradition!!! Makes me realize I need a pic of Will skyping with my mom because it sure is sweet!

  2. I love both names that you chose! And I TOTALLY understand all of the challenges with trying to combine two different naming styles. :) I did laugh at the "finally" in your description of Hannah having a name, though, because I was hemming and hawing about our Emmy's name in the delivery room. :) Also, YES, to the tremendous responsibility! I still fret over Emeline needing to spell and pronounce her name all of her life, but it was one of the few names we could agree on.

And I like alliteration in names! With Emeline I lobbied for "Amelia" to call her "Millie", because I love the way Millie McGladdery sounds. Maybe we'll be blessed with two girls, too, and I'll get a second chance to try to persuade. :)

I will wrap up this novel (I love discussing baby names!) with telling you that look FANTASTIC!
