Around New Year's I had this urge to begin reading a new book together as a way to encourage the kiddos to enjoy reading. The antagonist in me wants to avoid what is popular, but, why fix what's not broken, and, after talking with the Landgrafs, who are such big Harry Potter fans, their license plate reads "Appr8", I decided perhaps that was the one. We were instantly hooked and spent the next several months hurrying through our bedtime routine so we could congregate on the couch and read as much as we could. We had some super late nights because we couldn't put the book down! We finished the book in July, and Daddy even made the trip back from work in Sacramento in order to be there for the final chapter. It became a shared passion and precious time cuddled up together. Another blessing that came from that time, is that the kids caught the reading bug!
