Passing the Time

It's been five days since our house went on the market and no bites.  Not ONE!  Neither Nick or I have ever sold a home before to know what to expect, nor are we very patient people.  And it seems we are highly competitive, giving the house on the corner with a "pending sale" the stink eye each time we pass it.  I had this pipe dream of selling our home on the first showing, that would occur just hours after putting it on the market.  I don't think I am cut out to be a salesperson.

Keeping our house clean "just in case" there's a showing at any point in time during the day has only exacerbated my neuroses.  As much as I love living in a tidy house, I value my sanity even more (as do my husband and children.)  I remind myself tens of times a day that my two year old is not on a crusade to sabotage my work, but rather that she has no clue what's going on.  Hopefully, part of my pipe dream comes true (the selling it on the first showing bit, even though my original time frame for that has already elapsed. :-P)  So, between my cleaning sprees, we are having fun playing (which then fuels new cleaning sprees...)

Hannah started playing with her toys about a week ago!

Emmy's chosen treat from the grocery store was a can of Dora Chicken Noodle soup.  I can't escape Dora no matter where I go!!

Emmy reading to Hannah.

I walked into the room to find that Emmy had stripped Hannah down to her birthday suit because she needed a new diaper.

She insisted on changing it herself, so I just stood by with the camera (obviously).

Shaggy Darla couldn't be left out of the fun.

As for an update on our "dream home:"  We received the still photos last week and definitely want to see it in person as soon as possible.  The owner has been traveling nearly constantly for work which is making communication a little delayed.  So, for now, we are in a holding period until he returns from a field exercise.  God is clearly hard at work on my impatient heart right now.

  1. Isn't it nerve-wracking? After we sold our first house I said I hoped we'd never have to do that again... just keep in mind... everything sells eventually... at the right time!

  2. Maybe God doesn't want your house to sell too quickly because the owner of your dream house is delayed in communication...I guess God doesn't want you to be homeless! I've never sold a home before so it's also possible I don't know what I am talking about...
