Checking out the Hoover Dam with Kris and JP during an adults only trip to Las Vegas.  We all met up with Ryan and Amber Bosler and Derek and Mel Andrjeski for a wonderful weekend away.  It was an act of God for all of us to get away from our collective 16 kids but it was food for the soul.  Even though it had been years since we had been together, we jumped right back in and didn't miss a beat. Ryan and Derek picked us up from the airport in their rented minivan, and within an hour, we had a wayward, potentially intoxicated, person ring the doorbell of our vacation home needing help.  After we helped her, Mel prayed with her, and we processed it all, we locked the doors and began a full weekend of catching up by the pool.  We sorted out our enneagram numbers, encouraged each other in the challenges or parenting and laughed heartily over stories from the past.  We watched the Beatles' show "Love" and went out to a fancy dinner on the strip.  All of us girls kept laughing about how compelled we were to wrap blankets around the showgirls on the strip.  We might not all be cut out for Vegas shenanigans anymore, but we certainly won't wait so long for our next reunion.

Now that the twins can write their names and are learning to read, the twins got their ver own library cards!

I had been planning on getting my hair cut for donation for quite a long time, but had trouble getting synced up with a hair stylist.  Low and behold, on Memorial Day Weekend, I saw that a local salon was running a hair donation event!  Free hair cuts!  I told Emmy about it and she said that she was ready to donate her hair again, too!  So, we made appointments together to cut out hair!  The last time we tried to cut our hair, 4 or so years before, we were unable to because Emmy's hair still needed a bit more length.  It was such a wonderful way to celebrate my 37th birthday.

The gentleman running in front of me at the Armed Forces Half Marathon on my birthday weekend!

Dad snapped this photo as I ran past them one time.  I was sobbing with gratitude for their encouragement.

My parents came to the race to cheer me on from different mile markers along the way.  At the 13th mile marker I found them along with Nick and the kids!  What a blessing!  I teared up thinking about my last half marathon, running with other military wives while our husbands were oversees for a yearlong deployment and how we cheered each other on.  This was such a gift to have my loved ones there supporting me along the way.  James even broke away from the curb to come grab my hand and run me across the finish line.
God is so good.
